Ten Years from Now by Hali - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
Ten years from now, I see myself as a proud college graduate with a great job that I enjoy and am passionate about. I can see myself buying my first home and beginning my own family with someone that I love. I will be successful in my work and make progress and improve myself. If I want my life to go according to plan, my education right now is critical and a determining factor on how well my future will go.
Continuing to excel in high school and becoming successful in college next year will ensure that I will one day have a wonderful job with a plentiful and satisfying salary. Without a college education, I would struggle to find a career and wind up in a factory or another equally harsh and miserable place. I personally know that there is no enjoyment in working life away in a factory because both of my parents took that path. My mother worked in a factory until the job literally broke her down and forced her into disability and unemployment. My father still works at the factory and has been there over 20 years. He has endless complaints, and I do not wish to be miserable in a job like my parents. Factory jobs may be the right fit for some, but I am positive that I could not be happy while working in a factory with no air conditioning and horrible working conditions. I would definitely be happy with a career that I am passionate about, and I know that I will be able to discover my passion and my dream job while attending college.
Receiving a college education will set me down the right path to a proper and successful career. Since most jobs require college education, finding a job while holding my college degree will be a breeze. I will be able to love what I do and get a higher pay. I won’t have to struggle to pay for bills or dread going to work. I will be able to keep my family happy and provided for, and I will not have to worry. Since all of these things will factor into my happiness, I believe that my job will play a huge part in my future. Therefore, college will help me get to where I see myself in ten years and help me be happy and well off in the future.
