In Favor of the Frampton by Haleigh - March 2013 Scholarship Essay

In terms of educational subjects, Mrs. Frampton started from the bottom with me. Mrs. Frampton was a teacher of many subjects, but I first had the opportunity of being a student in her History class. History was my worst subject throughout high school, therefore most of my studying time was devoted towards learning who won the election of 1800 in America or how long the French Revolution lasted. Sadly, Mrs. Frampton did not spike some deep interest in history for me, but I can say I do remember some of Economical and Political Theory, just not so much of the actual material. It wasn't until my junior year in high school that I really got to know Mrs. Frampton. I'm sure Mrs. Frampton dreaded some of the classes I was in, since we were all loud and obnoxious. Not to mention that it was almost impossible for her to convince us Journalism students to go sale an adverstisement for the yearbook, or better yet not play video games. We may have only done enough to just pass the class, but it was the actual time spent laughing and joking with Mrs. Frampton that meant the most. We each got attached to her bold personality. We admired her for her strength when she had so many family and personal issues hit her at one time. She may have been broken in the inside, but she was still intimidating from the outside. She was one of the many that inspired me to stay strong during my senior year. I had worked so hard to get into the schools I wanted to get into, and the same week I received my acceptance letters (that which were helped with her letters of reccomendation) I also realized I was pregnant. Since Mrs. Frampton had just had her son two years before that, I looked to Mrs. Frampton for some pregnancy advice, but mostly advice for dealing with all the extra baggage being pregnant young carried. I spent my free period and lunch in her room. Since I have graduated high school two years ago, I have stored some of the information I learned in History and Science, but most importantly, I have carried an important relationship that I will always remember. Mrs. Frampton may have not taught me what the square root of an imaginary number is, but she taught me to stay strong when things get hard and to fight for what I believe in..and how to correctly design a yearbook :)
