Positive Changes to my School by Hailey - September 2023 Scholarship Essay

If I had the authority and opportunity to change my school in a positive way, I would make specific changes. The specific changes would involve meeting more often with little students, better lunches, creating time to go outside, and creating time for homework and scholarships.
High school students have a large impact on young students. For the younger students, it brightens their day to hear from the other students and it allows the high schoolers to leave the classroom for a break. This can help prevent the distractions we as high school students can be after a long day in the classroom. This technique benefits both the young kids and high schoolers. Also, lunches create a time to speak with your friends and take time to create more energy from the food. Since our lunches have small portions and are not eye-appealing we do not gain much energy from the food we consume, therefore, I would like to allow better lunches or open-campus eating. This could be as simple as larger portions or more items in the salad bar. Going outside would allow for fewer distractions throughout the school day as well. Going outside improves focus, gives us Vitamin D, and allows you to focus on the beauty of nature. Nature can distract you from the stressful environment school may propose to you. Lastly, creating a study hall would benefit everyone in the school. For seniors, we could use this time for scholarship applications and college admissions, while other high school students could work on homework or play card games to interact with one another.
All in all, having positive changes in school will benefit students if used to their ability. The specific changes were meeting more often with little students, better lunches, creating time to go outside, and creating time for homework and scholarships.
