Imagine a world in which students could get one-on-one instruction with a virtual teacher. A world where students have the opportunity to learn in a more interactive way. Nowadays, many students cram into a classroom to listen to (what could be) a monotonous teacher drone on about something that may or may not be interesting at all. Imagine a world where students could sharpen their learning with the help of interactive holograms.
There are many benefits to having interactive holograms in the classroom. Interactive holograms can have a wide variety of uses. For example, they can be used as a stand-in teacher or even an object that one can manipulate. Firstly, students can get a more intimate experience with the virtual teacher because they don’t have to share with the rest of the students. I have had many experiences in which a teacher of mine has not had the time to answer my questions due to their being multiple students in need of his or her time and attention. With interactive holograms, students can ask questions and receive help instantaneously from their virtual teacher. Another advantage of interactive holograms is that students can have the opportunity to experience things in a more comprehensive and detailed way. Using an interactive hologram in this way allows someone to more intimately understand their topic of study by allowing the user to move and manipulate an object; for example, it can be rotated, flipped, or potentially even cut it in half. With these features, teachers and students, physically in the classroom, can interact with the same hologram, at the same time, as well as with each other. This could create more unity in the classroom and give the students a deeper understanding of what they are learning. Many students prefer to watch and interact with something as opposed to reading or hearing about it. Students become more engaged with visual representations of the materials being taught. This motivates students to learn, and suddenly learning becomes fun, rather than it feeling like work.
In conclusion, with the help of interactive holograms, students can have an opportunity to have a deeper and more intimate learning experience, whether it be one-on-one with the virtual teacher or through the enrichment and interactions in the physical classroom. Twenty years ago, we were just starting to explore the potentiality of the internet, and I believe by the year 2038, the world of education will be more technologically advanced than we can even imagine.
