Empowering Others To Help the World by Guy - February 2019 Scholarship Essay
I dream of being a successful businessman. A man with a college education who has not looked back since. I dream of running a business that will help people all over the world. Using my experience playing football for the last 7 years, I want to empower a team of people to be productive in a global market networking and collaborating with people in the far corners of the planet. Being able to quickly identify the strengths, talents, and values in those around me, I believe in the potential to work interdependently to create positive change. I dream of being able to use my talents to not only to lead a successful business but to create abundance for those working with me and for the world around us.
I have been accepted into the business administration program at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. I will also be playing on the football team this fall. I am very excited about this opportunity, to pursue the sport I love to go along with a great educational program that will prepare me for a professional business leadership role in the future.
My current job working in restaurant management is further inspiration for my future dream job. Beyond the restaurant business, I want to take my leadership talents and work to lead a successful company that will be able to help and empower many people to be their best versions of themselves. I love being able to help people and as a manager, I will be in a position where I can challenge and inspire the people around me to collaborate on a common goal.
For the past seven years of my life I have been playing football, doing so has taught me many lessons and helped me develop many skills that will translate into the workplace. Most importantly, I believe are my people skills. I’ve learned how to bond and get along with people I probably never would have met off the field. Being on a football team I am with the same fifty people for over four months, but I only have two weeks to develop a relationship with those people before the first game. Within those two weeks, I have to learn how to quickly build relationships with people that will last a lifetime.
The combination of what I have learned in High school, playing football, and what I will learn in college will properly prepare me to be a successful business manager and will allow me to empower people around me to make the world a better place.
