Independence by Gracie - January 2018 Scholarship Essay
Independence is the desired designation of adolescence. Without it, controversy tends to occur, and the inability to be self-reliant is prevalent in the near future. For many modern societal members who are not or have not aided their ability to depend on themselves, for things such as financial stability and high social stature, may be limiting their ability to flourish in life. Therefore, independence is the word I chose because attending college can construct and improve your ability to be financially stable contemporarily and subsequently.
I plan to attend college to pursue a future consisting of stability and reassurance. College largely impacts the capability to become and maintain independence throughout life. The college experience alone can boost one’s concept of maturity, financial stability, and education. Attending college is of great importance to me because of the rigorous courses that can and will prepare me for the independent and upcoming future. Preparing for the future may not seem to be important at young ages, but once one reaches an age of maturity, one will realize that preparation, increased by attending college, can become a major stress reliever. In times of emergency or tribulation the mere mental and physical challenges that college requires can be of great necessity. For example, if one chooses to get a career that pays well and promotes stability in a future household, the occurrence of a spouse death/injury or other tragedies that would cause a monetary income impairment would not affect the ability to care for children in the family. Going to college merely initiates one's ability to be independent because of the challenges financially, mentally, physically, and emotionally.
This trait can not only increase your ability to uphold one's desired job but also one’s desired designation in life. Being independent can prepare one for the future and promote stability in very many aspects of life. Independence is desired throughout college and will prepare one for the future.
