College Education from a Personal Standpoint by Grace - April 2020 Scholarship Essay
Since seventh grade, I have aspired to enter the dental field. Throughout my time in college, I wish to pursue an undergraduate degree in Biology with Pre-Dental advising, then to go on, to go further. My dream is not only to attend dental school, but then to attend an orthodontic residency to become specialized in orthodonture and ultimately to become an orthodontist. College education is critically important to me as I reach for the sky and reach out for my goals.
Biology has always been a strong point of mine and I am infatuated with the study. A college education will help me to further my knowledge in Biology and beyond. In pursuing such a long term plan, I recognize that I must take caution with my own ambitions and I realize I may not come out the other end of my education with the same dreams as I now possess. I know in my heart that I must be flexible to follow any true passions that I discover throughout my education, but I know beginning with a strong undergraduate career is the first step. Having a college education allows me to be flexible in what I want to do with my life. If I was to completely change my world view and move to another aspiration of a career, a college education would allow me to do this. Through my time with the 3+4 Dental Program at the University of New England, I will be able to follow my dreams should I find the necessary funding for me to attend both undergraduate and graduate studies and I know I will do all that I can to succeed. Thus, having a college education will change my life for the better, and it is of key importance in my life.
