To me, a dream job is a job that will bring purpose and meaning to my life. A job that will make me want to get up each morning and leave with a feeling of satisfaction at the end of the day. I could say some reach-for-the-stars, flashy job that would truly seem like the perfect dream job. But for me, my dream job is simple. More than anything, I want to be a teacher.

Being a teacher is an essential career that has the power to mold the young minds of the next generation. A teacher who shows support for a student goes a long way in terms of both their character and their academics. I want to be the person in a student’s life that shows them they matter. I want to be the person who inspires them to be their best selves. Throughout a student's career they are led along by their parents and by their teachers. A teacher has a major role in shaping who a student can become. I have always held the ideal that if a student is supported and shown they are cared for, they will go much further in life than they ever thought they could. I want to make a living out of helping young children navigate the winding paths of life and helping to equip them with the tools they will need once they are on their own. Getting to possibly be that person in the life of a child sounds like all I could ever want in life.

Recently, I found out that I was accepted into Iowa State University, which is the only university I could see myself going to. I am beyond blessed to be studying at an institution that ensures the best learning opportunity for all their students. I plan to major in Elementary Education and become endorsed in English as a Second Language (ESL) to be the voice for the children who may not be as understood as the other kids. I have known being in the classroom was the right career option for me from an early point in my life and I am very fortunate for that fact. Going to a university is no small feat, and it comes with rigorous work. However, because I know what I want to do and feel passionate about it, I know that I will have a successful journey through college and be able to start doing what I love.

To be the kind of person that instills in a student both confidence in themselves and a love of learning is the best job I could ever imagine. Through study at a well-known institution, I know that I can get to where I want to be in life. I will major in Elementary Education and specifically, English as a Second Language and once I graduate, I get to start a work that I am passionate about and that, for me, is truly the dream.
