The lovely bones essay by Gladymar - July 2013 Scholarship Essay
I read and watched the movie the lovely bones back in 2011. I watched the movie first and based on that I decided to read the book, that's the way I do it. It definitely captured my attention. Since I hit play I got a feel it was going to give me goosebumps, Susie was 14, she made a mistake and that mistake cost her, her life. You can't trust strangers, no matter how short, nice and happy they look and in this case, The stranger/killer was nothing like I described. The way he portrayed an honest man, I mean he was her neighbor, she must have had a little trust in him. It is a little different in books, sometimes they add things or they cut things so I wasn't expecting the same sequence in the book. My favorite or Should I say the most intensifying scene was when her sister Lynsey broke into her neighbor/killer house to find any evidence, she always suspected him, that part was intense, hard to watch, Hoping she could be a little bit luckier than her sister. The book has 328 pages and it took me about a week or so to read it, I don't just read any book like I have all the time in the world, but I don't regret reading this one.
