Enough by Gina - August 2023 Scholarship Essay
I’m not perfect and no one is but the important thing is to keep moving forward. During my years of education there were times where I just felt like, I wasn’t doing enough because the outcome was the same. You would put so much effort into something, for it not to count for anything, or so I thought. Throughout High School, I always tried to do my best when it came to my grades, anything below a B wasn’t good enough. I always encouraged myself to take more advanced classes and to do as much volunteer hours as I can.
For some reason it always felt like it still wasn’t enough. I would shed tears and pour out my heart into my studies. Senior year came around and that was when the big day came to be. Applications started to open, and I was nervous because I felt like I could’ve done more to stand out. I turned in my application and waited, I haven’t heard from them until that day a packaged arrived. The package was from the school I applied for, and I was so nervous to open it up. All my hard work, all the tears paid off at the end. I got accepted into my dream school. A burden lifted off my shoulders because I was so deep into my thoughts that I thought anything I did was never good enough, but it was. Now that I have achieved my biggest accomplishment now it was start of a new chapter.
A new chapter to make my dreams into a reality. My goal in life is to make our oceans a better world because the way we are headed now, later the years, our oceans will die because of us. I want to prevent that from happening. Not only will saving our oceans benefit the life within it but for us people as well because eighty percent of our oxygen comes from our seas. Being accepted into my dream school is the first step into achieving that goal. Without proper knowledge and education, I wouldn’t know to fix the situation but with the right resources, it will get me there.
