A Trip Around the World by Gina - March 2016 Scholarship Essay
It's been ten years since I last stepped foot on Wisconsin ground. As these years passed, I've been privileged enough to become a part of different cultures. I've seen cities, monuments, museums, and still have managed to stay high and active upon my studies. Between sipping at a cup of coffee high up on the Eiffel Tower while reading my English Literature book or eating lasagna after venturing around the Leaning Tower of Pisa as I do my American History homework; I not only focused on my work, but I ventured the world too.
On a daily basis kids are given the opportunities to travel across the planet to study, but the vast payment to do so always kills their hopes and dreams. Now, if only every child was required to do so, then it would be much cheaper. Leaving home to venture the world seems like a lot of fun, right? Young adults will be able to mature in their own time while having childlike fun. They will be constantly put into situations where they will have to grow up and become an adult, which will allow said young adults to make their place in the world in a safe way.
I believe putting people in this predicament will allow a self fulfillment of control. No, not every child likes to leave home for college, in fact, the option of getting to stay home leads to laziness and un-fulfillment for their education. But, if everyone was required to move to a different environment when they went to college, it would become a regiment for everyone to fill. No one could argue because it would just be "how it is". Maybe, just maybe, it will cause more people to want to go to college then; knowing that they'll get to travel and see places as part of the package. It would make a great lifestyle of change, so let's make it happen.
