I believe leadership skills are necessary for college success. Truth be told that without leadership skills, we find ourselves with a lack of confidence when it comes to group or team work. Every business and career path requires us to work together as a unit. To prepare ourselves for this, we must know when and how to manage a situation on our own. The less supervised we are, the more our professional standing is improved. Remaining collected and assertive in any industry can be very beneficial to upgrading a promotion and higher position.

Sometimes I found it difficult for confidence to show within our work ethic because of lack of practice we get. I believe by giving students leadership building opportunities, we create more confident students moving on towards the next stage of adult life. The transition from high school to working adult is the stage where we create ourselves to be better and sharper with our skills. We also learn to grow as students, and just like sponges, we soak up the experiences that will help gain knowledge on what is to come next in our lives. In time, we can only tell employers the background we have through opportunities we’ve accomplished in leadership positions.
