What personal experiences led you to select your chosen major? by Gabrielle - February 2024 Scholarship Essay

My interest in my first-choice major, which is Public Relations, is deeply rooted in my personal experiences and a desire to follow in my father's footsteps. From a young age, I was exposed to the world of business through the lens of family dinners and discussions. Business dinners with my dad were not just about the food; they were an opportunity to witness his passion for entrepreneurship, leadership, and problem-solving. My father is a successful businessman who has not only provided for our family but has also made a significant impact in his industry. His dedication, work ethic, and ability to lead and innovate have always been a source of inspiration for me. I've seen how his strategic thinking and decision-making have contributed to the growth and success of his ventures. These experiences have inspired in me a profound admiration for the business world and a desire to be more like my dad.
I aspire to pursue a major in communications not only because it aligns with my passion but also because it's a way for me to honor and carry forward the legacy of hard work, innovation, and leadership that my father has instilled in our family. I believe that by immersing myself in the study of communications, I can develop the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute meaningfully to the world, just as my father has. In addition to my connection to business, I am excited about the wide range of opportunities and challenges that the business field offers. It's ever-evolving where creativity, critical thinking, and adaptability are highly valued. I look forward to not only gaining strong academic abilities but also applying what I learn to real-world situations and making a positive impact in the business world.
