Education: The Window to Opportunity by Gabrielle - November 2016 Scholarship Essay
Ever since I was a little girl, I have wanted to go to college. I heard people talk about it and I thought it sounded fun. In particular, I have always wanted to go to Brigham Young University Provo. Both of my parents went there, and many others from my family. While all parts of college sound awesome to me, I am most excited for the education aspect.
I love my social life, and I am excited to expand on it when I get to college and meet so many new people. I am sure that I will be very thankful for the lasting relationships and friends that I will make during college. I also love sports games and other exciting and fun activities (who doesn’t, right?). I am excited to get to go to sports games and sit in the student section! I am excited to go new places and try new foods! I am excited to have fun! I know I will be very grateful for the fun times that await me. However, none of these things are what I will be most thankful for in college. It is education and learning that will be the most enticing to me.
I have always loved to learn new things, to expand my mental capacity. I love feeling the satisfaction of mastering something new when I have learned it. I find joy in learning all about new things. I will be so thankful to have so much knowledge available to me at college! Endless opportunities await me, and I am excited to go and find them. Learning is important to me and I will be thankful to be able to learn so much while at college. I believe it is important to be educated so that I will be able to communicate with others effectively in more ways than just a text, so that I will be able to understand the world around me and what is happening in it, and so that I can exercise my mind and use it to it’s full capacity. I think that when you are well educated, you can appreciate life in a different way. Education will better me, my family, and other people in the world that I might be able to help because of my education. For me, education will open up many new experiences and opportunities all throughout my life. Going to college and getting a further education is so important to me, that I am willing to work hard and make sacrifices to do it!
I currently do not know what I want to be when I grow up. I think that at college, I will be able to really explore and find out what I love! I will be able to learn what things would be good for me to do, and what wouldn't. College will be able to give me new experience to learn and grow, in more than just education.
I want to be able to teach my children someday about the importance of education. But how can I do that, if I myself haven’t been well educated? The things that I learn now and at college will help me not only in my job, but all throughout my life. These things will help me in real life situations. I will learn how to solve problems, in life and in math. I will learn how to write good papers, whether it is for my job, or for writing letters and emails. I will learn how to read and understand; I have always loved reading, so this is important to me. I will learn how science and the world around me works. This may help me in my job, or it may just help me to expand my knowledge about the earth I live on. I will learn about history, and be able to learn from the examples of the leaders from the past. This will help me in my job, and in my life. It will help me to understand what has happened in the world so that I repeat the good choices and follow the good examples, and don’t make the same bad mistakes and follow the bad examples. College will be able to teach me in so many ways.
I have always been taught to gain as much knowledge as possible throughout my life! This is one of my most sought-after goals in life. You could say it’s on my bucket list, to go to college and learn lots! In my college experience, I will be so thankful to have my eyes opened to so much new knowledge and education.
