What is the most important lesson you have learned by Gabriela - July 2024 Scholarship Essay
This past year has been one of the most challenging and rewarding years of my life. The most important lesson I have learned is the value of perseverance. This lesson came to me through various experiences, from my academic journey to my extracurricular activities and volunteer work.
Balancing my studies with my passion for dance and tennis has taught me a lot about time management and dedication. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, especially when my GPA was not as high as I wanted it to be. But I realized that giving up was not an option. I pushed through late-night study sessions and early morning practices, and my hard work paid off. I earned the Principal Honor Roll and was recognized as the best student and the value of the trimester. These achievements showed me that perseverance can lead to success, even when the odds seem against you.
Volunteering at Kiddos Magazine, Miami-Dade Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center, and SunCity Church has also reinforced this lesson. Working with animals and helping to organize community events required patience and commitment. There were times when things did not go as planned, but I learned to adapt and keep going. Seeing the positive impact of my efforts on the community was incredibly rewarding and motivated me to continue giving my best.
My work with Ama Photography has further solidified the importance of perseverance. Photography requires a keen eye and a lot of practice. There were many instances where I did not get the perfect shot, but I kept trying, learning from my mistakes, and improving my skills. This experience taught me that perseverance is not just about pushing through challenges but also about continuous learning and growth.
As I look forward to attending college and pursuing a degree in medicine, I know that this lesson will be crucial. The path to becoming a doctor is long and demanding, but I am confident that my ability to persevere will help me overcome any obstacles. I am committed to working hard, staying focused, and never giving up on my dreams.
In conclusion, the most important lesson I have learned this year is the value of perseverance. This lesson has shaped me into a more resilient and determined individual, and I am excited to carry it with me as I embark on my college journey and beyond. Thank you for considering my application
