Crushing Year One! by Gabriel - August 2024 Scholarship Essay

I am going to work as an electrical engineer. That is my giant goal, the goal I strive for. Breaking down the giant goal into manageable ones, there in lies the challenge. Like all objectives worthwhile, work is required. After hours of internal debate and evaluation, a path I have found. My next big goal, is too crush my next year of classes! This too me, this does not only include GPA but also knowledge gleaned from peers as well.
Grades are important. This is not my first attempt at college. In 2017, I graduated from Northern Maine Community College with my degree in Emergency Medical Services. In my time spent at NMCC, I learned that school is more that just grades on a paper. I learned that school is also full of knowledgeable peers that can be an asset in a professional setting. In regards to my work in EMS. What I learned from NMCC, was that classmates are more than just fellow students but future working colleagues. Bonds formed by shared experiences help one learn about others, their strengths and weaknesses and vice versa. No one is a perfect being. We all have our flaws and that is life. Others have strengths which can help us over come our shortcomings. Likewise, we have strengths that we can assist others with. To me, crushing a year requires lessons learned such as this one.
My next big goal is to crush year one of college! I plan on doing all I can to achieve the highest marks I can. While also learning all I can from the professors and colleagues of which I am attending university. With this in mind, I can achieve my next big goal. Through this the cycle continues until I reach my giant goal of working professionally as an electrical engineer.
