The Impact of a Lesson by Gabriel - June 2019 Scholarship Essay
Throughout my high school career, I have had many great teachers, that have taught me many different things. Although, most of my teachers mostly only teach about their subject, but a teacher that has really impacted me and taught me many great lessons that will stay with me all my life, is my AP Spanish teacher. I think he is one of the smartest, and cultured person I have ever met. He knows about many subjects, has lived life in many different countries, which gains a lot of experience, and reads a lot. Throughout my year with him, he has taught me many great lessons that I value a lot.
A lesson that he taught me, was that we should not depend our whole lives on technology. He has taught us, and we have read that technology today, has made our society more ignorant, and maybe even less smart. People now depend on technology with everything. They don't try to solve their problems thinking, instead they go straight to their devices. The constant use of technology causes us to lose creativity. We stop inventing, drawing, making music, and even reading. Because everything is so easy with our technology. We figure everything out with such ease. Also he taught us, that if we don't use technology as much, we can actually enjoy our lives, and the people that surround us. Instead of texting the, go and talk to them, and socialize for real.
This lesson has impacted my education, in that instead of researching, and doing everything on the computer, maybe books, and taking notes in writing benefits us much more. I feel like if I take notes in writing, I learn the lessons better. If my hand is moving, I am thinking more, and I am expressing my creativity. All of this makes you think more, and become more cultured. This lesson does not only apply to school. It helps you live a better life outside of school, as well as in school. Thinking more, and expressing your knowledge. Talking, instead of having your face stuck to your screen. Overall, people should learn this, and maybe our community can grow more, become more intellectual, in some ways, and make this world a better place.
