Best Advice by Gabreille - July 2016 Scholarship Essay
Teachers influence our lives everyday by helping us learn new things. Although they have our best interests at heart, they expect us to learn on our own as well. The best lesson I have learned from a teacher is to always work hard.
School can become difficult at times especially when dealing with math. Algebra 2 was very difficult for me so I struggled in that class. Once I realized I did not understand the information I went straight to my teacher. My teacher helped me, but she did not just give me the answers, she made me do the problems on my own until I got it right. She taught me that you have to work hard for what you want, nothing will come to you if you are lazy. At times I would be hesitant to ask for help but my teacher taught me to take action when I needed it. The way she taught also showed me to always better myself and work hard to achieve my goals. Since I struggled in math, working hard and getting extra help allowed me to pass math with A’s and B’s. If it was not for my teacher I would have not learned such a great lesson nor would I have done so well in my math class. Although I am beginning a new chapter in my life as a college student, I will always remember to take action and work hard.
