Perseverance by Francoise - August 2014 Scholarship Essay
As humans we all have things that make us stronger in our lives. Whether it’s from a difficult time in life or from a role model. We all have different things in life that makes us feel stronger, as a whole being. An example of an academic failure that has made me stronger, was not getting a passing score for a math exam. However, going through the Medical exams, and passing them I was faced with one more obstacle- my math exam. I only had two choices: to give it my all or to fail without even trying.
With my medical exams out of the way, I felt as if the difficult issue had been dealt with. With that being the only thing in my mind, I soon found myself forgetting formula after formula after being faced with the review. I soon had to face it, I had to ask the teacher for assistance. After hours upon hours of trying to study the packet, I still was not confident on this exam. It all seemed like foreign language to me, and soon I regretted thinking that my Medical exam was the challenge. I was wrong - this exam made my head spin.
After facing my fear, I took the math exam and after a few weeks I soon forgot about it, but the moment I got my results back it all came crawling back. I ended up failing, all of the days trying to relearn those formulas, had gone to waste. In the end I knew I couldn’t let this one little failure discourage me from continuing my studies. I simply had to give it my best the next time around. As a end result of my failure I picked my head up once again, and saw that quitting wasn’t going to solve my problem.
