Life's Advantages by Felicia - June 2013 Scholarship Essay
People may think that my reasons are completely cliché but they are true. College means everything to me for several reasons. A better education can help me pursue my life dreams, set the foundation to my life and make my family proud of my accomplishment. I have always been determined and focused when it came to school. Since my first year in high school, I knew what I wanted to be for the rest of my life. All the encouragement and support from my family has allowed me to pursue my dreams. My dream has always been to become a dental hygienist. Now that I am on the path I want to be on, I am satisfied and pleased to say that once I complete school I will be a 23-year-old dental hygienist, hopefully.
I am the first in my family to attend college and they all tell me that college will give me the advantage I need to live a happy and comfortable life. I have seen some of my family members struggle with making a living and they regret not doing anything to improve their lives. I do not want to live my life unsatisfied, with the same regret as my family, haunting me for the rest of my life. I do not just want to satisfy myself but my family as well.
As I said before, I am determined. I am determined to be the first in my family to graduate college. I have made them proud when I was the first to attend college but I cannot wait for the excitement and positive emotions. They have been there for all of my other accomplishments and I am positive they will be there for the best one to come.
