Morning Person at it's Finest by Fayth - January 2019 Scholarship Essay

In my middle school days, around 5 years back, I was always a night owl and never a morning person. I hated getting up early in the morning, catching the bus at 5:30 in the morning, and having to deal with children around me being loud, obnoxious, and as energetic as it comes. All that I could think of when I woke up was, “I want to go back to sleep”, and the moment I walked into school, I thought, “I want to go home”. However, as the years went by and I started to mature and understand the importance of school, I basically changed in that sense.
Being in High School right now and how I act everyday, I think of myself as a morning person. I’m not cranky or irritated when I get up everyday at 5:00 am. I go through with my usual morning routine with no complaints being said. I go to school happy, greeting everyone I see with a, “Good morning!”, and exchanging smiles at the same time. Even on my way to school, I’m listening to my music in the car, loud to where I like it, singing along, being silly. People in cars passing me by probably be thinking that I’m crazy, but I just have so much energy now.
Its funny how changed from a night owl to a morning person. I believe my body was telling me, “No more! You will always have to get up early, so why not get used to it now?” and I like it. Since I’m more of a morning person, I’m more alert in my classes. I pay attention a lot more and can follow what the teacher is doing. Even in the future, I believe it’s a great aspect to have. Most jobs, start early in the morning as I see it and it’s best to be a morning person now than not being one and having to change in the future. Being happy and joyful in the morning rubs off on others and they become happy as well. So, I am proud to be a morning person and enjoy it completely.
