Coping With Stress and Succeeding by Fatoumata - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

I have come a long way. Education is very important to me and like many people I set goals. I set goals because I believe in myself and I want my daughter to be able to look up to me and be proud of what I have done and accomplished.
Time goes by so fast these days. In 2010, I made a New Year’s resolution that I will try my best to pass all my exams, catch up with all my school work, and put in effort making sure that I graduate from high school. Am glad to say, I accomplish that resolution. In 2011, I made a New Year’s resolution that I will go to a two year college and graduate in 2013. But, things do not always go as planned. I never got the chance to graduate because I got married and had my daughter. But that did not stop me from continuing my education.
My New Year’s resolution this year is being able to manage my stress and balancing my school, work, and social life. I tell myself every day that everything will be alright. I will be graduating with my associate degree this year. I stress because I worry about tuition and being able to pay off my school loans. I stress also because I work and I try to balance school, work, and social life.
I am aware that stressing too much can prevent me from functioning right as well as meeting those goals. Stressing too much can have in effect on my health, social life, and most importantly my school performance. Being a student is fun, but also challenging. There are a few things I can do to manage my stress and the first one is getting enough sleep. As a result of getting enough sleep, I will have enough energy and my mind can function optimally.
Additional ways I can manage my stress is staying healthy by eating healthy and exercising. Having an achievable objective and having a balanced schedule can help me manage my stress, but also help me in becoming a better student. To avoid me being stressed, I simply just need to be honest with myself. One way of doing that is by setting goals that I know are achievable. In addition, recognizing my schedule, responsibilities, and daily tasks can reduce my stress. I can create a balanced schedule that will balance out work, family, daily responsibilities, and some downtime.
In conclusion, my New Year’s resolution is simple to be stress free. I know I can do it because I believe in myself. By staying healthy, exercising, having a balanced schedule, and importantly setting an achievable goals will help me maintain my stress. I will do this because I will succeed.
