Dinner with Harriet Tubman by Faith - February 2016 Scholarship Essay
In elementary school, I remember studying African American historical figures and fanatizing about how they made it though. I admired how strong they were and how Smart they were. They always put God first and never showed fear. That's why if I had dinner with any historic figure, it would be Harriet Tubman. Her wit and determination proved to the success of the Underground Railroad and the start of the African American Revolution. Starting college next year, I would love to ask her numerous questions on how to do my best and to accept certain failures as blessing.
If I met her, I would give her the best and biggest hug I could give first. After everything that woman went through she needs a hug more that anything. I would ask her what gave her the courage to step out on Faith and fight to save lives and make a change. I would want her to give me advice on how to make it in my first year of college. We would talk about how America is still backwards and stuck In its old ways. We would plot and ponder on ways to improve race relations in America. We would pray for people who hate other races and pray for those who are effected by the hate. Lastly, we would discuss her impact on America and her part in African American history.
Even though racism still exist in in Amrica and the world, we are improving. Because of her I can be a lawyer and be respected in a courtroom. I would want Harriet Tubman to know from me that my generation and the generations after her appreciate it because if it wasn't for her and others, I wouldn't have freedom today.
