What do you plan on majoring in when you get to college and why did you choose that major? by Evelyn - April 2025 Scholarship Essay

I have chosen Physical Therapy as my major. During my freshman year of high school, I injured my back during wrestling practice. At first, I went to a chiropractor, but after a few months, there was only a minor reduction in my pain and mobility. The next year, I did wrestling again, but the pain came right back, and along with it, my ribs would pop out. This time, I went to physical therapy. While I was there, they pointed out specific problems and solutions that drastically reduced my pain level. After only a month with my physical therapist, my back and ribs were feeling better, and I felt like I could breathe again.

During this whole process, I realized how incredible it was that after a month of therapy, the pain was practically gone. I wanted to learn more about it and how it worked so effectively for me. I wanted to be the one who helped people recover from injuries and strengthen their bodies just like it had done for me. It still helps me today when I need it, and it helps my friends and family when they need it. I chose this major because I want to have a healing impact on those around me like it had helped me two years ago.
