Learning that Lasts a Lifetime by Eugene - March 2018 Scholarship Essay
I would explain the importance of continued learning to a second grade student in an easy-to-understand way -- a simplified method. First, I would say learning is fun. Learning is good for you. It makes you smarter and more capable. Second, I would say that learning gives you more opportunities (e.g. new jobs and new promotions). Third, I would say that gaining new knowledge increases your awareness and understanding about life.
Learning is fun and good for you. What I would say to an older, more mature student would be this: It facilitates enjoyment and satisfaction. It engenders mental acuity and sharpness. To simplify to a second grader, I would say it makes you happy and makes your mind smarter.
Learning gives you more opportunities for success. What I would say to an older, more mature student would be this: The job market is tough. Even if you do continue your education and obtain a degree, there is no guarantee you will get a job. To simplify to a second grader, I would say jobs are not always easy to get. You need to continue learning and growing in order to find opportunities that work for you.
Learning gives you new knowledge, increases your awareness, and grows your understanding about life. What I would say to an older, more mature student would be this: Concepts constantly change. New textbooks are continually being created. As such, you must evolve with the changing times and adapt to new knowledge. To simplify to a second grader, I would say to continue learning in order to gain new ideas, develop your awareness, and shape your understanding about life.
If you were to stop learning at second grade, that would be terrible. Continue learning and you will grow your mind and constantly seek greater opportunities. With continued learning, new possibilities are open to you. Never quit learning. Complete your K-12 education successfully, and then continue beyond that to ensure your own emotional happiness and mental intelligence.
