How would you make the most of a gap year? by Ester - August 2019 Scholarship Essay
A gap year is not what many high school seniors going into college think about when applying or thinking about your future. Whether you were planning a gap year or not, the same lesson is always taught: to broaden your horizons. In my eyes, I see it as an opportunity to see what you are capable of by challenging yourself while learning new lessons along the way. For example, if I had taken a gap year, I would travel to Italy, Rome.
You may be thinking to yourself, why Rome? I believe it is one of the many places you can assimilate new things such as their cultural history, discovering new tastes, and even learning their language. The information you learn along the way will bring new views into your critical thinking and point of view.
I would get myself to Italy since it has been a dream for me to travel there, but it doesn’t matter what country or state you travel to. Everywhere is a learning experience since it is somewhere new you are stepping to. As long as you have the goal to incorporate your driven goals to learn, your gap year would be worth learning about.
