School is a place for learning, to get an education and to become something in life. Over and over I have heard those words being said by teachers and others around me. As important as it is, those words have just over time seem to become a part of the background noise. It was never like I didn’t know what I wanted in life or how to achieve it. I was not a student who wasted my time. I knew the importance of school and what my parents had to go through to get me there. I was doing good and I thought that that was enough.

However, Mrs. Anderson knew better. She saw that I had become complacent with my spot in life and she challenged me to say otherwise. The things that I knew then are not good enough for the things that I need to know now. Just because I aced that biology test in 9th grade doesn’t mean that I will automatically aced the next one or any of the others after that. She taught me that I needed to work harder to keep up with the subjects that I am doing in school because under no circumstances do they become easier and that was the most important and heartfelt lesson that any of my teachers have said to me. She didn’t just want the best for me, she wanted me to want it for myself.

“Good, better, best. Never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best.” That quote is what she taught me throughout my time in high school and know that I am in college it is a big part of what still keeps me trying to do my best because the level that I am currently at is never good enough.
