Nurturing Faith and Character: My Journey as an Islamic Teacher by Ermin - January 2024 Scholarship Essay

In the tapestry of community service, my most significant contribution has been my role as an Islamic teacher. Since 2018, I have dedicated countless hours each month to teaching Islam to children and teenagers, a role accentuated by my accomplishment as a Hafiz – one who has memorized the Quran. This journey has not only been about imparting religious knowledge but also about shaping young individuals into better Muslims and upstanding members of the community.

My contribution goes beyond the mere dissemination of Islamic teachings; it involves instilling values and principles that resonate with the essence of being a good Muslim and a virtuous person. The Quran, which I have internalized and which forms the core of my teachings, offers more than religious doctrine; it provides guidance on morality, ethics, and the essence of humanity. As a Hafiz, my task transcends teaching the words of the Quran; it involves interpreting its teachings to help students navigate the complexities of modern life while staying true to their faith and values.
