What is passion? Passion is defined by Merriam-Webster as, “a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept.” Teens are passionate about many different activities, including gaming, music, and sports. Few teens, though, are truly passionate about education. Passion for education is manifested in working hard, accepting challenges, and learning throughout life.

Education requires effort. Unfortunately, we cannot learn by osmosis. Too many students choose not to put effort into their learning. Students who have a passion for education apply themselves to their schoolwork. They complete all their work to the best of their ability. Students exhibit passion for education by applying effort to their learning, especially when it’s challenging.

Passion for education means accepting, inviting, and welcoming challenge. Students passionate for education do not shy away from complex topics. They seek out opportunities to learn new ideas and concepts that stretch their minds. Through the many resources available at their fingertips – books, experts, and the internet – they are always learning new things.

Students truly passionate about education are self-taught and self-motivated. When they are interested in a topic, they learn all they can about that topic from books and the internet. These students are lifelong learners, never losing their craving for knowledge. Their passion for education spills out of the classroom into everyday life.

Passion for education is a necessary trait for successful students. Effort, challenge, and motivation define passion for education.
