Remember When? by Erica - March 2018 Scholarship Essay
Remember when you first saw the eyes of your mother?
Remember when your dad spun you around and put you on his shoulders?
Remember when you first heard a dog bark or saw an apple fall from a tree?
Remember when you took your first bite of pizza, or when you learned that 1+2=3?
The whole world is full of firsts. Every day you have a chance to learn something new. You can learn by seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, feeling, writing, reading, and creating. The beauty is that there are so many ways to learn and so much to learn. The world (and even the universe) is too big to know in just one lifetime, so you will never run out of stuff to learn!
All humans are natural learners. We are born with brains ready to soak up information and experience. It's not just important to learn; it's what you were built to do! Learning is the way we created the computer and video games, the way we send people to visit outerspace, and the way we feed and take care of the humans, animals, and plants on this planet.
Yet, there is still more to do. A lot of people don't get enough food, forests and oceans are dying, and there are always more fun video games we can create and play! Learning can be used to solve any problem you want, and it feels so good to help others solve their problems.
Learning is a lifelong process, and the more you learn, the more people you can help. They will thank you so much, and you will inspire them to learn, so they can help you in return! The more we learn as humans, the better we will be, and the happier and healthier our lives will become.
