Important Advice to Younger Students by Enrique - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
Many of you high school Freshmen are all excited and glad you finally made it to high school. There are many things that you might not realize until it is too late. There are three main objectives you must keep through out high school; do not slack off, turn in all work, and never give up.
Slacking off is one of the most common reasons to fail a class or not even graduate. Do not leave an assignment half done. You have to motivate yourself to accomplish it on time and turn it in. Do not write down random answers just to fill in the blanks. You have to search and track down the answers that are strongly supported with evidence. There are a number of times that some individuals slacked off and turned in the assignments up to a week late. Many have failed the assignment, while others failed the class. One small detail is all what it takes to bring a perfectly stable grade to an appalling score.
Not turning in work is another variable to avoid. This might fall under slacking as well, but in a way, it is it's own entire subject. Many think turning in an assignment late is better than never turning it in. In a way, this can be true. Never turning in certain assignments may accumulate numerous zeros in the gradebook , causing a failing grade to be placed. Sometimes, only one zero is what it takes to fail a class. Turning assignments late is still a large mistake, just not as affective as never turning in your work. Remember to always to always turn in your worksheets and homework. This may also help prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes.
The most important thing to do in school is never give up. There has been many people that dropped out of high school and never even made it to college and/or university. Many people think it is okay to give up, but it is not. Think about it this way, if you were to drop out of school today, your whole life ahead of you will be demolished by that single decision you made. You will never make it to your dream job, you will live by minimum wage, not many employers will hire you, and will possibly be living below the poverty line. These consequences will occur from one single wrong decision to quit high school. Employers are always looking for the most experienced workers with the highest level of education.
Overall, high school may seem fun. Hanging out with friends and going on dates with your partner, but by putting school and homework as a number one priority, there will be a guarantee that you will finish high school, college/university, and acquire the job you always wanted. Do not slack off, do your work, and never give up.
