New Year, New Balance by Emma - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

When it comes to New Year’s Resolutions, I have always had a hard time finding ones that I would stick with and succeed in like the popular weight loss resolutions and eating healthier; it just does not work! As I have matured, I realized the one important thing in life; balance. Maintaining a healthy balance is key when it comes to living a happy and healthy life. Being able to go out and adventure around the world, but coming home to your families and friends. Being able to eat junk food, but get back on track throughout the week, and finally having fun outside of school and work, but perfecting assignments and duties.
Having a New Year’s Resolution like balance is perfect for students my age and honestly, I do not think there is a way you would not be able to succeed in it. I have struggled in school, work, and social life trying to fit everything in, but it is a true goal I have for the year. I think it will help me be a better student in so many ways. I have noticed that when all of my time gets dedicated to one thing such as school or work, I often struggle more because I want to go out and do things that people my age are doing. I feel this resolution will keep me on track with my coursework yet let me have freedom to do other things that may bring the stress level of work and school down. Picking one or two days a week to sit down at the table and study or do homework will really bring my grades and knowledge up. Being able to go out with friends or exercise will make me a happier and healthier person that will help me create a bond with professors and other professionals.
