My Future Plans by Emily - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
Twenty-seven years old, that’s how old I will be in ten years. That seems so far away, yet people always ask about the future. I suppose that is because as seniors in high school, you begin making important decisions about the rest of your life. What college will you go to? What degree are you going to get? These are the things that shape our future.
It’s funny because my future plans take me back to elementary school. Music class to be specific. I remember hearing the applause and getting that feeling that you when you know that your hard work has finally paid off. That’s what I want to expose kid’s young minds and hearts too. Most importantly I want to show kids that music can be fun. To be able to fulfill this plan I will need to get a college education. Gaining the knowledge from the music education program will shape my future plans. So ten years from now I hope to be back in elementary music class. This time as the teacher. That is my career goal.
Family is by far the most important thing to me. It is something in life that I most definitely want to have of my own. At the age twenty-seven, hopefully I will be starting my family. I want at least two kids. Hopefully I have at least one kid or I’m expecting at that this time.
It will be entertaining to see where I end up living. Honestly, it could be anywhere. The area where I see myself living is someplace trendy and fun. Maybe that’s in a small town or in a suburb near the city. Although the location might not be definite, the shelter of my choice is.
A house. Not an apartment, condo, or townhouse. A beautiful house. It doesn’t have to be much. The house just needs a yard and enough rooms for everyone. I can then paint it and make it my own, so I can turn that house into a home.
The last thing that I know my twenty-seven year old self will want is to travel. The world is open to explore, and I know my heart will want to travel it. I love traveling even now and I always have. It does not have to be far or expensive to appease me. A small little road trip to experience places that were previously unseen by my eyes will do just fine.
My career, family, location, home, and traveling ability will all be affected by some of the choices that I make this year. My education will help me get my dream job and will allow me to meet new people. I have no doubt in mind that if I have these what may seems simple things that I will call my life successful. The beautiful thing about life is that even though this is how I envision my life in ten years, I will not know what will really unfold until ten years from now.
