Why I want to be a teacher by Emily - April 2025 Scholarship Essay
When I begin college in the fall I will be majoring in Elementary Education. Becoming a teacher is a goal that I have been thinking about since I was in Elementary school myself, and I believe it is not only a smart decision for me, but also for the betterment of my community. Teaching has always been a calling for me, as I have always enjoyed helping others and watching them succeed. I believe this profession aligns with my values, skills, and aspirations, making it a perfect fit for me.
Pursuing a career in education allows me to continuously grow as I learn to create my own unique teaching style. I will constantly be learning from my students, colleagues, and new teaching methods. It will provide me with the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives, which is both fulfilling and motivating. The satisfaction of being a part of helping a student understand something they once struggled with is unparalleled, and I believe this experience will continually inspire me to improve as both an educator and an individual.
Additionally, I see teaching as a way to give back to my community. Teachers play an essential role in shaping the future by guiding the future generation with knowledge, skills, and values. By being a teacher, I will help students reach their own goals and pursue their dreams. When students receive a quality education, they are better equipped to make positive contributions to society.
Finally, I will have the privilege of creating an inclusive and nurturing environment. I hope to encourage critical thinking, compassion, and collaboration, just as my favorite teachers did for me. These qualities will benefit my students and the broader community for years to come. In this way, my ambition to become a teacher is not just a smart choice for me, but for everyone I hope to impact.
