Future College Plans by EMILY - April 2025 Scholarship Essay

Nursing has always been an eye opening major to me. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted to help people who need it. It doesn’t matter if I’m helping with the simplest tasks, like picking up a pencil or assisting someone with eating, just being able to help and make someone smile makes my day. When I got applied to Grossmont, I knew right away that my major was going to be nursing. I really want to finish at least one or two years at Grossmont College to gain more experience in what nursing is like. After that, I plan to transfer to SDSU to continue my education in the medical field. Once I finish there, I would like to join a nursing school called the “LNS Program.” This program is more hands-on and advanced, making it one of the final steps before becoming a nurse. My goal is to become an official nurse in my early 20s. The type of nurse I want to be is either a neonatal nurse, which is someone who helps keep newborns alive, or a pediatric nurse. These types of nurses have always caught my attention. Seeing how good they are with kids and how they become the children's “heroes” warms my heart. Knowing that one day I’ll be able to save or help a child who has their whole life ahead of them is what keeps me motivated to become a nurse. Lastly, I would like to be an aesthetic nurse. While they don’t help people in life or death situations, they help men and women feel better about themselves mentally. Seeing people get lip fillers or Botox to feel younger and more beautiful makes me happy because I want my clients to love themselves and feel confident.
