The Study of Human Biology by Emily - February 2025 Scholarship Essay

One topic in education that has sparked my educational pursuit has been the study of the human mind and the human body. Education has always been one of my strong suits in life. I have always been one to click really fast when learning new curriculum, and from a very young age I have always been one of the top members in my class. As I grew older new studies were taught and exposed to me. Some of which I became aware I was not fond of, but some I did realize that they had been the reason I pursued many further classes of similar studies. The very reason that the study of Human Biology had sparked a passion in my education was due to many of the sciences behind it. How did the body work, where does most of our organs work in their prime and many further questions.
My mother has worked in the medical field for 20+ years, making sciences always exposed to me throughout my everyday life. When going into high school I had known I wanted to pursue a path of medical sciences, I had not yet been aware my major would reflect so heavily in this. I was quickly introduced to a class known as Human Biology. This drove a passion for me educationally. My mind had never clicked to a subject so quickly with such a burning desire to learn more as it had in that very moment. Not only educationally was this incredibly a huge area of light for my life but socially as well. The teacher that had stood by my side through many of the trials and tribulations that do come as expected throughout high school inspired me to continue my education of studying anatomy and the human body. This class has shown me the highest of mountain tops as well as the lowest of some valleys. I struggled staying on top of my work, but despite my struggle I found a way to make myself sit down and learn the curriculum for the passion of wanting to know more. This has shaped my educational goals for the future regarding drive and passion when considering the future learners of this generation. although I was tied to the emotional aspect of science education due to my mom had been being involved in this field for many years, it was not the only thing that gave me a passion for human biology. My teacher as previously mentioned, had always done a phenomenal job in teaching me exactly what I had needed and where to find it in our textbooks, or may times the site we used to find our assignments. She pushed me to do my absolute best in that class, and it wasn't solely because I was interested in the topic or subject but it was because I knew she was giving her all in teaching and I also wanted to in turn give my all in learning. This has given me a passion not only for learning but also in teaching. This has led me to my ultimate choice of wanting to teach to also inspire future generations to come when it comes to the field of education. To spark a passion inside of them that is undeniable that they are able to chase their dreams with no holding back because they not only do they know they are capable but because they know they are also fully supported.
