My Inspiration by Emily - October 2019 Scholarship Essay

As people grow up in this world, they are influenced by peers and society. Their peers can influence them to do something that gets you off track from your path or gets you in trouble. An example is going out to a party when you should be studying for a test. Finding the inspiration and motivation to do well in academics can be hard with peer pressure and the desire to feel cool as a teen, but it is not impossible.
Finding my inspiration was not as hard for me as it may be for others. Since family is one of the most important things to me, I have always looked up to my older brother. Especially since mt brother is in college, he is always inspiring me because he has had many obstacles to overcome in his college career. When he overcomes these obstacles, he manages to overcome them with good grades while balancing his sporting career as a football player. Every day he inspires me to keep pushing forward and do my best in everything that I do.
Not only does he inspire me, but he also encourages me to be successful. I tell him about my concerns and he gives me advice not only to fix my concerns but he also accommodates for any other problems I may have in the future. He gives me "brick phrases" which are his special football phrases that the team says and uses everyday. Some examples of these brick phrases are "Focus on you vision not your circumstance" and "Be where your feet are". His advice and encouragement make me want to become as successful as I can be.
Sometimes all the inspiration we need is right in front of us, and we just need to be able to see that.
