My senior quote would be, "We celebrate the past to awaken the future" by John F. Kennedy. I would chose this quote because it accurately describes the purpose of graduations. Graduations are a celebration of the things you have accomplished in your schooling, and doing so helps to motivate you for the future. Whether that is going on to college, technical school, or starting a career.

A major part of graduating is closing the doors you have opened for yourself in high school through celebrating and recognizing all of the work it took to open those doors. No matter what you plan on doing after high school, you have to close that chapter in your life and start fresh for the future. However, closing those chapter can be very painful, and celebrating can help ease the pain of saying goodbye. For example, for me personally I had been a manager for my high school football team since my freshman year. So, when our final game came with a crushing defeat to Lawrence Free State High School. It was really difficult and emotional to say goodbye to the team that had grown to mean so much to me. Stepping foot on a high school football field for the last time really hit me and the other senior players hard. But, we all banned together and celebrated all of the work we had accomplished through being one of the best teams Campus High School has ever seen, and it made the defeat and end of the season easier for us all. Celebrating what we had accomplished made us not only less sad about the present, but also made us excited for each other to see what lies ahead for all of us.

In conclusion, the quote by John F. Kennedy "we celebrate the past to awaken the future" would be my quote because it embodies the true purpose of graduations. This proved more true than ever this year for me, graduations are to help celebrate your accomplishments to make the ever emotional job of closing a huge chapter in your life easier, while also making you excited for what your future holds. After celebrating what I have done, I cannot wait to see what is in my future because now I know it only goes up from here.
