Typically, the classic college experience grants each student the wisdom that will guide them through the “real world” after the conclusion of secondary schooling. However, being confident in my previous experiences with independence, I believe that college has more to offer than the opportunity to live on my own. I believe that the cultural foundation of college institutions has a much greater potential to benefit me than simply the incidence of its location being absent from familiarity.

While attending college, I plan to take advantage of the diverse population around me. The incredible relationships I can form with people of different cultures will have a life long impact on my perspective of the world. That, I find to be one of the most influential aspects of a developing individual’s life, which is why I will be most thankful for the relationships I make with people of different backgrounds. I am aware that people can have a very real, very raw impact on another’s life. We are shaped by the people that we meet, so it follows that the people we come into contact with are vital to the course of our lives. Therefore, I am thankful that college will give me the opportunity to be influenced by people and cultures which will ultimately transform me into the person I am meant to be.
