A Change in Pace by Emily - August 2016 Scholarship Essay
“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.”- Oprah W.
I really started caring about my education my junior year of high school, that’s when I took the psychology class at my school, and where I found my drive for learning about my new found passion. I took my grade in that class very seriously.
I knew that in order for me to pursue my passion in psychology, I would have to hit the books and get my grades up in my other classes that I wasn’t doing so well in, so I could be accepted into a respectable college to get the education that I needed. My grades weren’t so hot, being that I was failing physics and algebra, making my GPA a 3.2 to a 2.8, I realized this wasn’t a good enough start.
I started to attend tutorials and study sessions, it didn’t help my GPA any because it was the second semester already. But at least i had gained the energy to focus on what excites me.
I’m now taking advanced courses to boost my GPA, and I’m doing a lot of summer reading to prepare myself for the years ahead.
