If I had the opportunity to sit down at dinner and speak with a historical figure I would choose Thomas Edison. I feel this would fascinating because so many of his inventions are still a part of everyday life. I can't imagine life without movies, music or phones. I would love to see his reaction to how his inventions have evolved over the years. Can you imagine what he would think about our smartphones? I am sure he would be blown away with how we can watch movies, listen to music and send text messages on our phones.
One of many inventions from Edison was the alkaline battery. These are still part of everyday functions and in fact keep our world moving. In this age of technology, batteries are essential. I would love to learn how Mr. Edison found the inspiration for his many inventions. I would like to hear as many stories as he would be willing to tell about his failures and successes. I think it would be great to show him how his creations still make life more comfortable.
I wonder if Mr. Edison would like to see his company General Electric? Would he want to know about everything they provide? I would ask him his opinion as to whether or not he is happy with how things have changed.
In conclusion, I would love to sit down to dinner with Thomas Edison and would never forget the experience.
