Stay Curious by Elly - February 2025 Scholarship Essay

The human body is truly amazing. The way it works is so intricate and detailed that it leaves me in awe. I am fascinated by the way everything comes together in order for our bodies to function. This passion and fascination is what really led me to nursing.
Before I ever took any anatomy or health classes I was so curious about the body that I was constantly learning about different diseases and how they affected the human body. I took my first health class my freshman year of high school and I absolutely loved it. I then took anatomy and physiology my senior year of high school and that class is what solidified my passion for nursing. My teacher during that class was so encouraging and just an overall amazing teacher that she made me love the subject even more.
This curiosity and passion is why I am going to be a future RN. I believe that my drive and passion for this subject and on top of that wanting to make an impact on others and help others is what will get me through nursing school. My ultimate goal is to be in the pediatric field and to work with kids. I would love to get my Nurse Practitioner degree someday after I have some experience under my belt. It would be my dream to make an impact on people as they are in a vulnerable state. I would love to learn more about how I can help people as they are struggling and just constantly learn from science. I would love to someday do some more parts in the research side of nursing as well if I am able to.
All of this just inspires me to always stay curious. By staying curious I always learn so much more and it always makes me feel so good and happy that I did. I am so excited to see where this passion leads my in my career and to see where I will be.
