My most influential teacher by Elizabeth - March 2013 Scholarship Essay

In all my years of schooling I have had many influential teachers. All of my teachers have made a difference in my life, however, I only have had a few favorites each year that have significantly affected my life . It has not been until now, in my last months as a senior, that I have been able to look back and recognize one of the most influential teachers I have ever had. For three years in my high school J.R.O.T.C class I have had the same instructor, CSM Cook, teaching and giving me good advice whenever I needed it. It is he who has not only helped me with homework, but has helped me blossom as a person. CSM Cook has taught me leadership skills, good moral values, and the importance of loyalty. I have grown to greatly admire and respect CSM Cook because he has been a great mentor. If it wasn't for him I probably would not have achieved my full academic potential. It has been with his constant care, not just for me but for all his students, that we've truly been able to become better students personally and academically. Not many teachers honestly concern themselves about their students grades or even what could be negatively affecting them at home, however with the instructor it is very different and it shows with the rest of the students. I can sincerely say that CSM Cook has been one of the best and most influential teachers I have ever had.
