How To Succed on a School Project by Elizabeth - December 2017 Scholarship Essay
At school you are expected to work all day on a daily basis for an entire school year. You are given homework, daily assignments, test and projects to complete in order to receive a grade where you will either succeed or fail. Everyone wants to succeed, it is the main goal on all assignments, but how exactly do you succeed, especially on school projects? Everyone has their own definition on what they believe success is, but I will explain on how I achieve success on projects by following a lists of steps. There are four steps that I follow to help me succeed in doing my school projects.
The first step is an idea. An idea marks the beginning of what the project will be about whether it’s on science, Shakespeare, or on the president, the idea is the base of the entire project. It is also considered to be the hardest step due to having to pick one topic out of all the possible options that are given. Once you have selected an idea you will also begin researching what is needed to complete the project. Once you have completed the research you can proceed to step two.
Step number two is the planning stage. The planning stage is where you gather all your information and plan out how the project will look and plan the time it will take to complete it. I usually like to sketch out a diagram on what the poster will actually look like and this definitely helps in keeping things organized. Usually projects have due dates and by marking them on calendars on when they are due can also be beneficial to your planning. Once the plan is constructed, you can begin on actually working.
Step three is the working stage of your project. By now you should have all the materials and information to complete the project. This stage is where creativity comes into play because here there are no limitations. Usually by being creative it will make your project more appealing to the eye and will stand out compared to others. Here I suggest that you type your information because it will be easier to read the information being presented to the audience. Using coordinating colors and adding images really help the project come together. Another tip that I would suggest is to try not to leave to many empty space due to it makes the project appear mediocre.
Lastly the presentation stage. This is the final stage when completing a project. Here many people will struggle because they are shy or just don’t like to present in front of an audience. I am also one of these people, but I have learned over the years is that practice makes progress. By practicing what you are saying for your presentation, it will relieve some of the nerves when it’s time to actually present. Note cards are another resource that can help you. By writing key points and elaborating on them while presenting it will ease your mind and help you on delivering your message the audience. Presenting is a key element in finishing your project so by explaining the information well, it will generate glorious results.
These are the steps that I follow when I am assigned a school project and it has made me successful every time. Success is defined by the work you put into something and by doing a great job, your results will be amazing. My hard work represents the success I have accomplished when doing a project and I plan to continue doing a great job so that I can reach my goal and ultimately become successful.
