Why I would have dinner with George Washington by Elizabeth - October 2017 Scholarship Essay
Hmm, who to choose. There are so many people to choose from. I would choose George Washington. President Washington was a huge factor in the formation of the United States.
I would start by asking him about his early life. I find the century’s before I was born fascinating. I would ask him what growing up in the early days of the U.S. was like. I would want to know what was difficult about that time and what was easy. I would ask him about the history of America during his time to see what information has been forgotten or deemed non important.
I would ask him about his time during the American Revolution. What was the most difficult about it and was did he enjoy, if anything. I would ask him about the meeting of the Continental Congress and what was discussed that we don’t know about today. I would want to know if anyone was against the Continental Congress and why they were against.
I would be interested to know if he would change anything that was included in the Constitution and why. I would ask him how he feels about how the Constitution is being interpreted today and the ramification of that. Overall I would like his opinion about why the Constitution was written the way it was (with his interpretation) and how he sees us interpreting it today.
In conclusion I would want to know about growing up in early America, what went into deciding what would go into the Constitution and what is was like being the father of a foundling country.
