Science by Elizabeth - October 2016 Scholarship Essay

If I were to teach a subject, I would teach science. Science is the matter of all things. Without understanding how science works, we won't understand anything. Everything that we touch, everything that we do, everything that we come across is science. I want to spread the love of science to the students I would teach. I want them to fascinate the deep core understanding of how we, as humans, are science. And in order for us to fully live to our fullest potential, we have to understand ourselves...and without understanding science, we cannot understand ourselves 100%. If we deny science, we deny ourselves. When we accept science, we accept ourselves fully.

I want to integrate the love of learning science to my potential students. So often, many people deny science because they don't see the relevance of it. I disagree. Science is the most relevant sure thing in our human lives. Without it, we don't exist. It's this understanding that many people don't have and don't feel they are affected by it at all. It's this myth that I want to teach that it's not true. I want students to love and understand that there is science behind everything. And in order for us to understand our surroundings and ourselves, we have to understand the science behind it all.
