Time Management by Elizabeth - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
If a younger student were to ask me the most important thing I have learned in my years of school, I would say time management. As a student, it is always tempting to wait until the last minute to write the essay, to do the math problems, or start your project but this is something all students should avoid. When you procrastinate assignments they end up not being done to your full potential and can cause negative effects on you.
When you wait until the morning of the day you are supposed to turn in your homework, you tend to rush to complete it. When you rush more mistakes tend to be made and most of the time they are just careless errors that could easily be avoided. You should always take the time to find the correct answer or redo the problem that you know you got wrong. Doing this could easily make a large difference in your overall performance in your classes which also affects your future in the long run.
Your schedule and the amount of time an assignment will take to complete is an important thing to think about when planning out your time. If you put off an assignment until the night before, odds are that additional assignments or responsibilities may be added to your workload which may prevent you from being able to complete all of your assignments and responsibilities by their due dates. Also by waiting till the last minute to complete these things, you could increase the amount of stress on you which could reduce your focus on your work.
You will learn many things in high school besides just math and history. You will learn many life skills and this is definitely an important one you gain along the way. You will use this in your future as you plan out your daily schedule to ensure you have enough time to complete your tasks. So, I recommend that all students begin practicing this and end the trend of procrastination.
