Should All College Students be Required to Study Aboard? Why? or Why Not? Essay by Elizabeth - March 2016 Scholarship Essay

No I don’t think that it should be required for college students to study abroad for multiple reasons. The first and main reason is that the college student might not have the money to study abroad and college is already expensive here in the United States. I do think that it should be an option to study abroad though. I think that it should be option because it would be an amazing experience and it would increase the information for the students that are going after a foreign language degree.
Studying abroad would be an amazing opportunity that college students could experience but some students wouldn’t be able to afford it. So therefore it should not be required for students to study abroad. It could also be a deterrent for some students if they do not have the money to study abroad and so then they would not get the education they needed to get whatever degree their going after. Also college is already super expensive here in the United States, and that would make it ten times more expensive.
If the student could afford to study abroad it would be amazing and I personally think that they should do it. So this leads to the reason why I think that instead of requiring that they study aboard, that it should be an option. Studying abroad would be very beneficial if the student was studying foreign language. If it was required for the foreign language student to study abroad then I think that the school should pay for that and not the student. If the foreign language student did study abroad in location that speaks the language their learning it would increase and help them learn to speak that language better and increase their knowledge about that language.
In conclusion I think that it should not be required to study abroad. I think this because some students would not be able to afford it. I think that it should be optional because some students do have the money to study abroad.
