College provides so many things. An education, new friends, new experiences, a life away from your parents and family, and so much more. We spend our entire high school career finding out what we want to be, where we want to go to college, and hoping it all ends up being the right decision in the end. I believe everyone remembers their life in college, we get told it’s the “best years of our lives” over and over again. Weather you learn tons and go on to be majorly successful or just enjoy the 2 or 4 years like any stereotypical college kid would, these days college seems to be the place to be! For me, I think I will be most thankful of the experience of college of meeting new people, and really finding who I am as a person.
People go to college for many different reasons, some only go because they want the “party scene” and others only go for the education, most go for both. This next upcoming year I am hoping to go to college to obtain my nursing degree. I can already picture myself sitting in a crowded classroom and not knowing a soul. That excites me more than anything. Most people will hate the thought of going to college without knowing anyone else but I can’t wait. I have lived in the same place my entire life. I have known the people i’m graduating with, and the grades above and below me for all of my life. I’m ready for new people. When I have that ability to meet more people I am going to take every advantage it gives.
As I have grown up I feel like I have never really been able to say I know who I am, I know what I like and i’m sticking to it. I have always been kind of shy and unknowing. I follow a lot of what others say before speaking my mind. This is another thing that I feel like the the experience of college will teach me. I know that it will help me to become my own person and to know who I am other than what people tell of me.
Overall college will be an amazing experience, there is no doubt about it. I can’t wait to get on with my own life, I can’t wait to become my own person in the shadow of nobody. I can’t wait to meet knew people and go to crazy parties. To go to a place that nobody cares who has the newest clothes, the prettiest eyebrows. I can’t wait to learn as much as I possibly can to the best of my ability. Every bit of it will be new and exciting, I can’t wait for college!
