Technology's Significance in My Education by Elisabeth - January 2020 Scholarship Essay

Introducing technology to the classroom environment has made an enormous impact on not only me, but many other students as well. Personally, I believe the use of electronics and the internet in the classroom are amazing resources if used correctly. Technology has helped my education go above and beyond, and has been able to aid me in times of need and to help me succeed.
First of all, my favorite thing about technology in class is how fast and easy research and other work can be done. Instead of having to go to a library and sort through books, I can easily go to a computer and find all the information I need and more. Especially when I get home from school and want to look into something deeper, I can easily type in a few words in Google and look deeper into the subject. I hear my teachers and parents constantly tell me about how they had to go to the library to find information when they were in school and how hard it was for them. Technology makes research one of the easiest things to do as long as you know where to go and what to read.
Technology also provides another way to get me to be more engaged in my studies. I have had several teachers tell me to go home and watch certain videos on YouTube, do a quick quiz, maybe play a game or do an interactive lesson online. So many different things can be done with technology -- don't get me started on Kahoot! Kahoot is one of the most fun classroom games that never fails to keep me interacted with class. It’s a fun game that also helps me learn what I need to know. Another example is College Board. For my AP Biology class we have to sign up for an AP classroom, which gives us assignments to follow up on our classwork. I love this idea because it gives me an extra resource to use to prepare for the AP exam and future studies.
Technology has become one of the most important resources in schools and has a positive influence on my school experience. Using technology in the classroom should not be frowned upon, but instead used to our advantage. Technology will always be a part of my education and hopefully it can be continued as a part of my classroom procedures.
